The iPhone 18 Pro Max is getting bigger. Like, literally. According to a leaker, it's going to be even thicker and heavier than its predecessor. I mean, I guess that's what happens when you're trying to cram more cameras, batteries, and whatnot into a phone that's already pretty packed.
Let's be real, Apple's been on a bit of a thickening trend lately. Remember when Samsung first came out with the Galaxy Note series and everyone was like, "Whoa, that thing is huge"? Yeah, now Apple's basically at that point too. The iPhone 17 Pro Max was already a bit of a brick, and if this rumor is true, the 18 Pro Max is going to be even more... substantial.
Now, I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. I mean, if you're the type of person who wants a phone that's basically a mini-tablet, more power to you. But for those of us who still like to be able to fit our phones into a pocket without having to buy a new wallet, this might be a bit of a problem. And let's not forget, bigger phones are heavier phones, and who wants to walk around with a brick in their pocket all day?
I think Apple's trying to make a statement here. They're going all-in on the whole "Pro" thing and trying to make their phones feel more premium, more luxurious. But at what cost? I mean, is the average user really going to notice a difference in camera quality or battery life? Or are we just going to be stuck with a phone that's more of a pain to carry around?
And what's with the obsession with cameras, anyway? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love a good camera, but do we really need three? Four? Five? It's starting to feel like Apple's just throwing in cameras for the sake of throwing in cameras. "Oh, this one's for portrait mode, and this one's for zoom, and this one's for... um, because we can!"
I guess what I'm saying is, I'm a bit skeptical of this whole trend towards bigger, thicker, camera-ier phones. I mean, what's next? Are we going to start seeing phones with 10 cameras and a built-in kegerator? It feels like we're losing sight of what a phone is supposed to be – a device that's portable, convenient, and easy to use.
So, will the iPhone 18 Pro Max be a success? I don't know. I think some people will love it, and some people will be turned off by the size and weight. But hey, at least it'll be a conversation starter, right? "Hey, check out my new phone – it's bigger than your head!"
